What kind of ink do you use?
We use soy-based printing inks. The inks we use contain less than 1% VOCs and can be easily cleaned with a water based solution. Soy-based inks are a renewable resource and emit less amounts of volatile hydrocarbons during the printing process. The ink we use contains organically grown nut oils in place of petroleum oil.
Can you match my color?
We have over 50 stock Pantone ink colors to choose from. If we don't have a specific color, custom Pantone ink colors are available for an additional $40.

Can you print multiple colors?
We can print as many spot colors as you want, but keep in mind that the amount of colors used affects your price significantly. Letterpress prints one color at a time. Each color is plated, registered, printed and washed up separately.
What kind of paper do you use?
Our preference is 100% tree-free cotton paper. We typically print on weights of 110# to 220#. All papers must be uncoated.
What is a blind impression?
A blind impression is one without ink. For small text information or on colored paper stocks we recommend a tonal ink impression.
What is a tonal ink impression?
A tonal ink impression creates just enough contrast between the artwork and the paper to make your contact information visible. We print a small amount of ink to create a slight tone-on-tone effect.
Can you print large areas of solid color?
Yes, but there are many reasons not to print large solid areas of color. Solid color is difficult to achieve a consistent solid color density. There will be some color variation throughout the run. Some pieces may have darker ink density, some may have lighter density. We typically run the large solid areas through the press twice which tends to fill in small text areas. Overall, we do not recommend printing large areas of solid color and we especially do not recommend printing large solid areas with small informational text.
Are you open to the public?
Studio visits and consultations are by appointment only.
What is your turn around time?
Our print production turn around time is 10-15 business days. If expedited timing is required, rush fees and a delivery date must be requested and arranged in advance of proof sign-off.
What are your payment terms?
A 50% non-refundable deposit of the estimate total is due to begin your project. The full balance is due at time of shipment. Note that shipping costs and/or taxes are not included on estimates and are calculated upon completion of the project. The total cost, including shipping and any taxes will be reflected on the final invoice. Payments may be made with check, or credit card through PayPal.
What type of files can I send?
Artwork must be supplied as Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or InDesign (.indd) files with each color specified as a PMS solid UNCOATED ink. Please convert all fonts to outlines.
How quickly do you prepare a PDF proof?
Once we have your deposit and final files, we prepare a PDF file that represents the actual production artwork. This PDF proof typically takes 1 business day to prepare and will be sent to you via email. An email sign-off response from you begins the production timing of your project.
